Musical Theater District Days

The Rural Kentucky Travelling Theatre Where Imagination and Joy Take the Stage, Spirits Soar, and the Arts Come to Life

Pow Wow District Days bring original musical theatre, interactive storytelling and live balloon artistry closer to elementary schools throughout rural Kentucky.

For each District Days engagement, Pow Wow Parties & Productions transforms an established community event space into a colorful theatrical experience. The production remains in place for several school days, allowing schools from the surrounding area to select a convenient date and performance time.

Students don’t simply watch a story—they step inside it.

Original characters, music, movement, scenic environments and audience participation work together to create an arts experience students can see, hear and help bring to life.

A Complete School-Day Experience

Each District Day is designed to provide a predictable, manageable educational outing that may include:

Step Into the Story

Students enter a world of original characters, music, colorful scenery and interactive storytelling. They clap, move, respond and help bring the adventure to life.

Watch Imagination Take Shape

During a live balloon-twisting demonstration, students see ordinary balloons transformed into remarkable characters, animals and objects. They discover how artists use planning, experimentation and problem-solving to turn an idea into something real.

Move, Play and Imagine

Guided participation and activity time give students an opportunity to move, interact and explore their own creativity.

Enjoy Packed Lunches Together

Venue-specific schedules may include designated time and space for students to enjoy packed lunches before returning to school.

Complete schedules, capacity limits, lunch arrangements and accessibility information will be provided for each District Days location.

Why Imagination Matters

Imagination is where every story, invention, work of art and new solution begins. It encourages children to wonder, explore possibilities and look beyond what something is to discover what it could become.

During a Pow Wow District Day, students see that creative process happening before their eyes:

  • An idea becomes a story.
  • Music creates a feeling.
  • A balloon becomes a character.
  • Individual voices become part of one shared adventure.
  • Cooperation helps move the story forward.

Our experiences encourage imagination, curiosity, creative thinking, teamwork, confidence and appreciation for the visual and performing arts.

We don’t ask students to stand outside the art and quietly observe it. We invite them to step inside.

Regional Dates Designed for Schools

District Days are presented at established public event venues such as city, county and state park community centers.

Each location is selected to provide:

  • Indoor performance space
  • Safe school-bus access
  • Appropriate restrooms and accessibility
  • Space for students, teachers and chaperones
  • Multiple school-day performance times
  • A convenient regional destination for surrounding schools

Schools provide transportation and retain responsibility for student supervision throughout the visit.

The Experience Continues in the Classroom

Pow Wow Backstage: Unpack the Show

After the performance, classrooms can continue exploring the imagination, artistry and problem-solving behind the production through Pow Wow Backstage.

Students can follow how an original production develops through concept sketches, music, costumes, characters, balloon art, scenery, props, rehearsals, experiments, mistakes and creative changes.

They can discover that theatrical magic doesn’t simply appear—it is imagined, tested, created and brought to life.

Choose Your Field Trip Adventure

Every Pow Wow field trip combines live musical theatre, interactive storytelling, balloon artistry, and plenty of opportunities to participate. Students don’t simply watch from the sidelines—they clap, move, imagine, respond, and help bring the story to life!

Each experience is designed to foster imagination, joy, creativity, teamwork, and an appreciation for the arts—while lifting spirits and creating memories children will carry back to the classroom.
